Consumption Junction

Well here are the final stats on consumption.
Oh my.

Sweet Tea: 2.5 gallons. I don’t think this number is totally accurate considering I didn’t drink that much-therefore, not paying attention- and the refills were endless
Pulled Pork: 4.5 pounds
Jumbo Chicken Wings: 14
Brisket: 1.25 pounds
Ribs: 74
Fried Vegetables: 11 cups
Slaw: 10 cups

Added to that was blackberry cobbler, pecan pie, lemon icebox pie, banana pudding, red velvet cake and cupcake

I gained almost 4 pounds- heading to the gym shortly.

1 - I work with your father here in Atlanta and my name is Chad. I am not from the South, however Hayward is what I would consider to be a true Southern gentleman, and it is with pleasure that I call him my friend. He has a few years on me and I tap into his wisdom and vocabulary on a daily basis. I always give him a hard time about showing me a peach tree some time. I mean I live on Peachtree street, there's 'Peachtree' this and that everywhere and I haven't seen a single one in the year that I've been here. He swears there are, but I haven't seen any evidence. Back to the point, he showed me your original blog message before you hit the road, and I love your creative wit and writing style. I've been out of the office for the last couple of weeks and as soon as I saw him this morning I asked for this website (really... ask him), I simply couldn't wait to read your clever take on the events du jour. Just got done and have to say that I am jealous. I'm not a 'foodie', but you write with such definition and clarity that I actually decided to forgo my lunchtime workout and (gasp!) went to patronize this q place I've past a hundred times or more. You inspired me. It is exactly what I think you would like. Mom & Pop place, converted small building of some sort, big bbq pit on the side with smoke billowing out to the street putting you into a trance that doesn't quite seem fair. Anyway, the lady called me 'honey', which I think is always a good sign, and suggested the pulled pork sandwich. I took a small Brunswick stew as my side with the original sauce to smother it with and sweet tea....no brainers and all slam dunks. I'll be back for sure. It was exquisite and alas, I didn't feel guilty at all. Thank you for taking the time to put together this blog and next time you're passing through, if you are so inclined you can join me and the old man for lunch... or a beer/whiskey drink, cuz I like that stuff too.

Take care and keep writing, you have a gift. (Comment this)
